I saw this project over at Little Things Bring Smiles and fell in LOVE. I knew that I had to make one of these book page letters yet I had NO idea how long it would take to finish {just 1 letter}. But now that it is {finally} finished I love it - and it looks perfect in my bookcase.
Supplies needed are an old book {seriously, I cried when I had to cut up the book}, wood letter {I painted this cheap wooden letter white}, glue gun, scissors or cutter, and patience.
First, cut up paper to this size of each side of the letters. I kinda cut mine as I went. And I cut each slice in half to make the roll smaller.
Here is the tedious part, rolling up each paper and gluing the ends together. For some reason this part took forever for me to do.
Once rolled, glue to the wood. This was tricky to line up correctly.
And the finished product after hours and hours of hard work. But I love it.
And a picture of my happy family. I just thought this picture was so funny and had to share.
Enjoy your weekend, I know I will - - my graduation is tomorrow!! yay.
Love your book page letter! Congratulations on your graduation!

that is pretty cool. I have some books that my daughter destroyed. instead of throwing them out I might just do this project. great job :D
ReplyDeleteThe book page letter looks great ... that would be a fun idea for my kids' reading corner.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing ... visiting from Be Different, Act Normal.
Awesome idea! Love how it turned out. And congrats on the graduation!
ReplyDeleteLooks wickedly awesome! I feel your pain about ruining a book. I have one that I bought at a yard sale & to be honest...the book was a very bad read. I had no problems cutting that one up for projects! Following your blog now. Poof on over to Wiccan Make Some Too when you get a minute & say hi!
ReplyDeleteOooh! This is really neat! I love the rolled up book pages.
ReplyDeleteVisiting you from the Sunday Showcase party.
Looks wonderful! Now I have to score some letters :)

I really like this, but I just don't know if I could cut a book. My teenage DD says just buy a cheap romance and cut it, but I just don't know...lol...maybe I will glue and she can cut! Thanks for sharing!

Adorable. My son's teacher's last name starts with W and she has a whole wall of W's in her house. I know she will adore this. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI clicked through via Tip Junkie. I am a non-crafter, who secretly might want to be one. I LOVE books, and like you, I'd have issues ripping one up! But if something like this comes of it, it could be my first finished project. Thank you!
ReplyDeletethis looks so darling! I need to do this!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I have made a book page wreath, but never a letter! So cute.
